One of the greatest challenges facing disadvantaged families is the issue of father absence. This is often the result of the pressures of family poverty. If left unchecked, this can lead to child developmental issues including behavioral problems.
Potter’s Gate Charities creates awareness about the importance of healthy father-child relationships through the Fatherhood Coalition. The coalition dedicates itself to spreading awareness about the benefits of keeping fathers involved in their children’s lives. Among these benefits are higher levels of school performance and increases in healthy behaviors.For example, children raised with significant positive father involvement display:

The Fatherhood Coalition also embraces motherhood. We seek to encourage stronger support for both mothers and fathers to grow as healthy parents. We fear equal opportunity for women may never happen without recognizing the importance of responsible fathers in their children's lives.
At Potter’s Gate Charities, we believe that both biological parents should involve themselves in their children's upbringing. And fathers have an important parenting role. This is crucial for the child’s development.
Fathers must be loving and provide emotional support towards children and family. This includes helping children with learning and school work, being a decent role model, and providing moral and spiritual guidance. Nothing prepares a child for the challenges of tomorrow like having involved parents, both equal partners in making parenting decisions.
Although the situation is dire, we offer some incredible local programs supporting men and their families.
- Emergency and transitional shelters - for homeless men and provide much more than a roof over their head. These shelters strive to improve the economic self-sufficiency of men by providing case management, tutoring, life skills and job training.
- Permanent housing facilities - for homeless and chronically homeless men. This provides varying amounts of financial support for men with multiple economic barriers. Therefore, more men can acquire the income required to maintain their own housing.
- Training and support - offer comprehensive services for men. Manchild challenges, trains, and involves men in meaningful disciplines in key areas of their lives through a diverse network of like-minded affiliate groups.
- Traumatic Abuse - Recovery help men resolve any immediate physical, environmental, and emotional needs and challenges. Manchild helps you overcome the traumatic abuse and endless tragedy that leave so many feeling powerless and frustrated.
